Review Our Terms & Conditions and Our Privacy, COVID, & Cancellation Policies

COVID-19 Policy

If at 35 days prior to travel there is a government travel restriction preventing you from being able to travel you can receive either: a full credit or a refund less $100 per person. A government travel restriction is official government advice or restrictions in your home country or Canada, associated with the pandemic such as border closures and quarantine requirements. It excludes ‘do not travel’ advice and travel to destinations other than Canada.

Check carefully the terms and conditions of any airline tickets or insurance policies that you purchase in conjunction with your trip. The Bruce Tour will not be responsible for air transit arrangements which necessitate quarantine or denied entry in the destination country, airline schedule changes, cancellations or fare increases or insurance policy terms and conditions.

Within all the risk mitigation strategies, it remains that COVID-19 is extremely contagious and there is a risk of exposure anywhere where people encounter one another which cannot be removed.

Acceptance of the inherent risk is voluntarily assumed by you when you join our trips, though you should rest assured we have elevated our protocols with a heightened awareness of this new paradigm by way of the following:

  • We’ve increased our safety measures to help manage COVID-19 on trips operated by us.
  • All guides have been trained on these actions which include field protocols that have been developed following local health authorities guidelines.
  • Developed thorough health and hygiene protocols, including thorough cleaning schedules for all high touch surfaces, gear and group equipment and increased passenger screening process to identify high risk passengers.
  • Completed relevant province and territory government COVID-19 Safety Plans. In completing these assessments we follow the recommended protocols for physical distancing measures and health and hygiene principles.

If you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 once you are on a tour you will be tested and if positive you will be excluded from the tour and medical assistance will be sought if required. There will be no refunds after tour departure and you will be responsible for the costs associated with being removed from the tour and any additional expenses incurred as a result. Please contact your travel insurance provider in order to submit a claim for expenses incurred.

Vaccination Requirements

Travelers are required to provide proof of a current and valid COVID-19 vaccination, with the final dose administered no later than two weeks prior to departure. Participants aged 12+ are required to be fully vaccinated to allow services including accommodations and restaurants to be utilized.

It is the duty of travelers to check any requirements which need to be fulfilled before travel, which includes transit destinations, on the destination country’s government websites.

Vaccination Exemptions

Medical exemptions require a medical certificate from the province health department. Those with valid medical exemptions must also provide a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to the first day of the trip.

Please be aware that additional quarantine requirements for unvaccinated travelers may apply, depending on destination and transit countries, and these should be considered before you travel so the appropriate arrangements can be made.

If you do NOT have a medical exemption and object to vaccination, we acknowledge and accept your right to choose what is best for you as an individual. Whilst this is the case, we take our responsibility to our travelers, host communities and global staff seriously and with this in mind, will not accept travelers on our trips in the absence of a valid, current vaccination or suitable exemption.

Accepted Vaccinations

Vaccinations which are acceptable are those approved by health authorities in Canada. Accepted COVID-19 vaccines in Canada are: Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2) Moderna (Spikevax, mRNA-1273), AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222) and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S). Click here for details on COVID-19 vaccinated travelers entering Canada.

Staff Vaccination Policy

We hold our responsibility to our team in the same high regard as that of our travelers. In line with this commitment, all our leaders and crew must either have been vaccinated, or in the case of access challenges, being addressed via our advocacy, have tested negative to COVID-19 no more than 72 hours before they start a trip.

Terms & Conditions

Cancellation Policy

Please understand that our trip dates and capacities are limited, and when we accept your reservation we may be turning others away from booking that trip. If you find it necessary to cancel your tour, please let us know as soon as possible. No refunds are given once tours have departed. The Bruce Tour is not responsible for any additional costs that may arise in the event of a trip alteration or delay caused by circumstances beyond our control. To avoid confusion, we require written notice of cancellation, by email or mail. The following fees will apply to cancellations and are calculated as of the date we receive your written cancellation notice, which can be sent by email or standard mail.

  • 35 days or more prior to the trip departure date – Full amount is refunded less a $100 administration fee (per person).
  • Less than 35 days prior to the trip departure date – No refund will be given.

We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, including interruption, cancellation and medical coverage to cover costs associated with your travel in case of unforeseen circumstances. Please contact your travel insurance provider to ensure you have appropriate coverage for your entire trip. If you use a credit card for payment for your tour expenses, you may have trip interruption insurance as part of your card benefits. This coverage, however, is often a limited dollar amount, may not cover COVID-19 related issues and does not usually include cancellation or medical coverage. Please check with your specific card provider to ensure you are adequately insured.

If a tour has to be canceled due to circumstances beyond our control and/or a circumstance amounting to “force majeure” such as war, threat of war, political instability, riots, civil disturbances, actual or threatened terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disasters, fires, epidemics, health risks and pandemics, acts of God, industrial disputes, unforeseeable technical problems with transport for reasons beyond our control or that of our suppliers, closed or congested airports or ports, hurricanes and other actual or potential adverse weather condition, and any other similar events, there will be no refund from The Bruce Tour. Please contact your travel insurance provider for details on how to start a claim. The Bruce Tour is not responsible for expenses incurred by trip participants in preparing for a canceled trip (for example non-refundable advance purchase plane tickets, visa fees, inoculations, equipment etc. or for any additional arrangements for other travel plans associated with your travel).

The Bruce Tour will make every reasonable effort to contact you as soon as it appears that a trip may be canceled.

Trip Preparation

Once your tour is booked and your deposit is received by us, we’ll send you a detailed document that includes everything that you will need to prepare for your tour including an itinerary, packing list, transportation options, directions, meeting times and frequently asked questions.

Dietary Restrictions and Accommodations

We need to know as soon as possible about any dietary requirements we should consider when planning your trip menu. If you have food allergies or restrictions, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. However, people with severe food allergies may need to supply some or all of their own food as we can’t entirely mitigate the risk of cross-contamination. Additionally, some specific needs can only be met if we charge you a supplemental menu fee to cover our increased costs. **Please note we are not a peanut- or nut-free facility.**

Photographic Release

The Bruce Tour, reserves the right to take photographic or film records of any of its tours. Trip members should be aware that The Bruce Tour may use these photos or film for promotional and or commercial purposes without remuneration to the trip participants.
